Looks like a chilly and wet week, at least some of it. Unfortunate for the opening of baseball season (especially for those of us with tickets to Thursday’s game in Baltimore). If the 10-day weather forecast is to be believed, the Nats opener on Monday may not be much better. Hoping Mother Nature gives us a break!
Meanwhile, dancing mostly is indoors, so weather isn’t much of a concern.
Sadly, this is the last week for the bar Rainbow Road. They will close at the end of business on March 30. The club is to be torn down due to a road project. This place has been there for years and will be sorely missed by the “family” of people who loved going there to party and dance.
Another note you may have not seen – Laurie Armstrong, who taught in the last year or so at Nick’s, and other places, and who has been teaching on Mondays at the American Legion in Springfield and Lost Boy Cider, and occasionally for NVCWDA, is planning to leave the area. Her last Springfield dance is 3/25. The dance will continue. See details below.
In case you haven’t heard the news, Sandy Garrish suffered a stroke recently during her dance at Hawks. She is now in a rehab facility, I believe in Sykesville. A GoFundMe page was started to help her with expenses. Her job has been teaching dancing, so not working means no money coming in. Sandy is a very sweet person and has done so much for dancing in the area. She shares her time for good causes as well. Hopefully, she’ll be recovered from this soon. All of her regular dances are still going on, with others covering for her. All of her dances are currently being covered by other Djs & instructors, so please keep attending them.

Please remember to keep dancing! Those dance locations sometimes disappear if attendance drops too much. Also, if you’re dancing in a bar or restaurant, they expect you to buy something, not just dance for free. They are not in business to provide you with a good time for free.
Please note that the differences in font and appearance of various events is not my intention. For some reason, copying and pasting causes issues with my word processing and moving it to this site. It all looks the same to me on my document and then when copied here, it changes. It's annoying, but I have not figured out what to do about it, short of retyping the entire document, which I'm not going to do.
Because snow is not the only thing that sometimes cancels events, please know the cancellation policy of the events you attend. Several go with what the schools do in the country they are in for weather events, so you need to know what county. If the organizer of your favorite events have a contact list, get on it, Many use Facebook, so if you don’t have that, you may need to depend on others.
The calendar page was updated ra while ago, but was outdated almost as soon as I updated it. If there are things missing or incorrect, please let me know. I generally put things in that happen on a regular basis so that I don’t need to update too often.
Feel free to fill me in on whatever you know is happening that I don’t have listed here If you send info, please give me as much as you can about it, including where to find the information so that I may update later.
I don’t include weekly band information for the clubs that have bands as it is frustrating and time-consuming. So, if you’re interested in what band is where, you’ll need to check the clubs’ websites or Facebook pages. If there are bands you follow, you can check their pages as well.

BIG NEWS…….American Legion in Springfield, VA – Laurie Armstrong has been teaching and playing music for dancing, both couples and lines at this location fro a couple of years. She is giving it up as of 3/25. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Lisa DeFreitas is going to take her place, starting April 8. There will be NO dance on April 1. I believe I read that Laurie is going by what Fairfax schools do with weather. She does cancel occasionally. I don’t usually find out about it until it’s too late to pass along the information.
