Dance News 1/10/22

Jan 10th , 2022

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone survived the snowstorm last week. We’ve almost forgotten what a good snowstorm is since we hadn’t had one for a few years. In light of the fact that we are deep into the season where the weather can impact events, please know the cancellation policy of the events you attend. Several go with what the schools do in the country they are in, so you need to know what county. If the organizer of your favorite events have a contact list, get on it, Many use Facebook, so if you don’t have that, you may need to depend on others.

I hope we’ll mostly be back to the regular schedule this week. There’s some possible nasty-looking stuff on Saturday the 15th, but we all know our forecast can’t be depended upon a week ahead.

The calendar on the website is mostly caught up. There are things I still don’t know about, but I have noted that I have no information. I still have a few more I should add.

Feel free to fill me in on whatever you know is happening that I don’t have listed here  If you send info, please give me as much as you can about it, including where to find the information so that I may update later

With the current state of COVID, there are more changes in mask and vaccination requirements. I can’t keep up with it all. My best advice is be prepared to wear, or at least take, a mask wherever you go. If you’re vaccinated, take the card with you too. I am not at all sure that some of the rules I have listed in some events are still correct. I suggest that you contact whichever event organizer you’re interested in attending to find out what the rules are for that location.  Keep in mind that some events have now shut down again due to the COVID numbers.

I have one sad item to send out to you. Eileen Scott, who was a long-time member, and at times, Board member, of Northern Virginia Country-Western Dance Association, passed away on New Year’s Eve. In addition to NVCWDA, Eileen taught at various locations in Northern Virginia over the years. There will be a funeral service on Jan. 11.
